Main search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing! can provide you detailed reports about your pages’ visibility on them. If you’re interested in this statistics, you should start by going to Tools > Webmaster Tools on your blog’s dashboard.
To enable it, all you have to do is copy the code provided by the search engine(s) you chose to verify your blog’s data (you don’t have to insert all three codes).
With this, you can finally know who’s been viewing your blog and why, among other really cool stuff like:
- check out the most significant keywords search engines found when crawling your site
- learn about specific problems search engines have accessing your blog.
- find out which search queries drive traffic to your site, and see exactly how users arrive there.
- visualize lists of pages’ samples on your blog that have incoming links from other internal pages.
To get these codes, simply follow the steps above:
Google Webmaster Tools
- Log in to https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ with your Google account.
- Enter your blog URL and click Add Site.
- Choose Meta Tag verification method.
- Copy the meta tag
- Leave the verification page open and go to your blog’s dashboard.
- Access your Webmaster Tools menu and paste the code in the appropriate field.
- Click on Save Changes.
- Go back to the verification page and hit Verify.
Yahoo Site Explorer
- Log in to https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ with your Yahoo account.
- Enter your blog URL and click Add My Site.
- Choose By adding a META tag to my home page.. authentication method.
- Copy the meta tag.
- Leave the verification page open and go to your blog’s dashboard.
- Access your Webmaster Tools menu and paste the code in the appropriate field.
- Click on Save Changes.
- Go back to the verification page and click Ready to Authenticate.
- Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your site to be authenticated.
Bing Webmaster Center
- Log in to http://www.bing.com/webmaster with your Live! account.
- Click Add a Site.
- Enter your blog URL and click Submit.
- Copy the meta tag from the text area at the bottom.
- Leave the verification page open and go to your blog’s dashboard.
- Access your Webmaster Tools menu and paste the code in the appropriate field.
- Click on Save Changes.
- Go back to the verification page and click Return to the Site list.
